As you'd all know by now, I have a baby boy. And boy oh boy, is there a severe lack of good, trendy boys' gear out there in the mainstream shops. I'm talking about the stuff that DOES NOT have trucks, cars or monsters emblazoned upon it. I know it’s not just me that hates all that kind of gear. It’s like the world thinks that dressing its boys in gear portraying traditionally ‘manly’ things will help shape them as men. Errrr, not so much.
But, there are a few brands who have recognised this gap in the market and jumped on it. And one of the best, and Harry and my all-time fave, is Hunter Baby.
Hunter Baby was born in early 2010 when new mums Amanda Moore and Holly Kent set about creating an exclusive range of newborn and baby boyswear that was unique, stylish and affordably priced. Being mothers themselves, they knew exactly what they wanted for their children, and what wasn’t readily available.
“I think baby boys outfits should have personality and flare, not just white and pale blue,” said Holly. They decided to concentrate mainly on one-piece garments for babies because they’re practical, particularly for new babies. “Motherhood is hard enough in the early days, and the less trouble dressing them, the better!” said Amanda. It certainly makes sense!
Four years on, the brand is growing (with a girls' collection in the works!). They've just released their Winter 2015 collection ‘Chamonix’, which combines crisp snow white with beautiful green, red and ink blue accents.
Eye-catching stripe combinations are available across all their classic winter styles including the 'James' onesie, 'Oscar' top & leggings and 'Indi' bandana bibs to match. They’ve also introduced a long sleeve and leg zip front onesie ‘Flynn’ for easy dressing and quick changes.
Harry has the ‘Oscar’ top Fox Stripe in green and wow – the fabric, quality, cut and detail is to die for. I particularly love the little elbow patches and the lower cut of the leg (no baby boy wants to wear anything too high cut!).
My favourite item is their new college-inspired onesie style ‘Carter’ with a rugby neck. Harry has the Navy and Red.
Even though he looks so grown up in it that I get a bit teary (bear with me, his 1st birthday is approaching and I'm struggling with it!), it’s a trendy and practical all-in-one day piece that we’ll be using a lot in the coming months. I particularly liked that the legs finished just below the knee, it looks super cute and is great for varying weather.
I cannot fault the design, craftsmanship or material of any item in their range, and with reasonable pricing I highly recommend you check them out!
