I'm not going to lie, when the Big Bash League (BBL) asked me to go to one of their matches, I wasn't super excited. I'm a HUGE sports fan and have always loved watching Rugby, League and Basketball games, amongst others, but Cricket wasn't exactly top of my list of faves (primarily because of how loooooong and boring I've always found those Test matches!).

However, we headed off to a Sydney Sixers home game and I have to say it exceeded all my expectations. We had an awesome time!

What the BBL has done is make cricket shorter, fast-paced and exciting! Walking into the stadium there was almost a rock concert-like atmosphere, with many people dressed up and dancing around to music.

The Sixers went down to the Brisbane Heat by six runs, with the crowd cheering on and counting down literally every single delivery. It was pretty cool to watch.

Apart from the cricket, there was also activities such as a bubble machine (who doesn't love some bubbles!), competitions and a DJ.

Yes, the logistics of getting our family of four (with a 20-month-old and 3-month-old!) out at night were full on, but it was definitely worth the effort.

Now, I can never go to any sporting match or game without wearing the gear (you've got to look the part, right?). So I just had to try out the new range of BBL merchandise for women, brought out at the start of this fifth BBL season. I love my Sixers shirt, it looks great and is super comfy.

They've released different tops, hoodies, caps and more for each BBL team, so you can show your support in style.

I have to give the Big Bash big kudos for what they've done. The format rocks, the atmosphere is pretty cool and there's something there for everyone (including women!).

Well done Big Bash for literally knocking it out of the park (see what I did there? ;) )
